What is Tricor?

Tricor and the generic alternative fenofibrate are medications used to treat high cholesterol and high triglyceride levels and should be used alongside lifestyle changes such as eating a low-fat diet, exercising and losing weight and smoking if necessary. Fenofibrate works by increasing the natural enzyme that breaks down fats within the blood.

Common Tricor side effects may include but are not limited to:

• Stomach pain after eating a meal.
• Loss of appetite.
• Jaundice.
• Fever, chills or weakness.
• Sore throat or mouth sores.
• Unusual bruising or bleeding or coughing up blood.
• Sudden cough, wheezing or rapid breathing.
• Swelling, warmth or a redness in an arm or leg.
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing or a swelling of your face, lips or throat.

A: Tricor is also known as Lipidil 145 One, Lipidil EZ and Supralip. Lipidil 145 One, Lipidil EZ and Supralip are not a generic alternatives but the same brand name medication with different names internationally. The generic alternative to Tricor is known as fenofibrate.
