Why is Aciphex prescribed?

Aciphex (Rabeprazole) is a drug used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems including acid reflux. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach makes. It is used to treat symptoms such as difficulty swallowing and heartburn. What changes can I expect while taking Aciphex?

Aciphex may cause diarrhea. Tell your doctor if you have watery or bloody diarrhea, do not take anti-diarrhea medicine before doing so.

What known drug interactions with Aciphex are there?

HIV drugs such as Rilpivirine should not be used while you are taking Aciphex as it can cause it to now work as effectively. This is not a full list of interactions, speak with your doctor for more details.
