Description

What is Combigan?

Combigan is an eye drop combination medication containing Brimonidine and Timolol and is used to treat high pressure inside the eye as a result of open-angle or ocular hypertension. Lowering high pressure inside the eye can help to prevent blindness. The two medications work together to lower eye pressure. Brimonidine decreases the amount of fluid formed in the eye by allowing better fluid drainage whereas timolol is a beta-blocker which reduces pressure inside the eye.

Always read the patient information and instructions carefully before using this medication.

  • Wash your hands before using your eye drops. Do not touch the dropper tip or allow it to touch your eye or any other surface.
  • If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and do not put contact lenses back in for fifteen minutes after using Combigan.
  • Tilt your head back. Pull down your lower eyelid to make a small pocket. Look up and away from the dropper and squeeze out one drop into the pocket.
  • Look down and close your eyes for between one and two minutes, using your finger to apply gentle pressure to the corner of your eye nearest your nose to prevent the medication from draining away.
  • Combigan eye drops are usually prescribed to be taken twice daily, twelve hours apart. Do not change or increase your Combigan dosage unless advised by a doctor.
  • If you take any other eye medication, use Combigan before any eye ointments and wait at least ten minutes before using another eye medication including other eye drops or ointments.
  • Combigan is most effective when it is used regularly. Continue with this medication even when you are feeling well.

Cautions

Make sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist:

  • If you have any drug allergies.
  • Which other prescription and non-prescription medications you currently take.
  • Your medical history especially of heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, blood vessel disease, blood circulation disorders, diabetes, depression, overactive thyroid, muscle weakness disorders, dizziness after standing or severe allergies.
  • If you develop an eye infection, injury or have eye surgery. You may need to start a new bottle of this medication.
  • If you are breast feeding.

Also be aware that:

  • If you have diabetes, Combigan may prevent a fast or pounding heartbeat you might feel when your blood sugar level falls too low.
  • This medicine should only be used when clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Combigan can make you dizzy, drowsy or temporarily blur your vision. Combigan and alcohol or marijuana can increase these effects. You shouldn’t drive, operate machinery or do any other activity requiring alertness unless you are sure that you can do it safey.

FAQs

Q: Can I take Combigan while wearing contact lenses?

A: If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and do not put contact lenses back in for fifteen minutes after using Combigan. This is because contact lenses may absorb Combigan medication.

Q: How much does Combigan cost?

A: The price of Combigan 0.2%/0.5% is based on the quantity you require. You can save money on both Combigan and Combigan generic alternative Brimonidine/Timolol through buying a 90 day supply of your medication. No Combigan coupon is required to get our great prices.
